Teresa de Medici is the wife of Piero de' Medici and mother of Lorenzo de' Medici. Married in to a wealth family of bankers, she was one of the most influential women in Florence.

Biography[]

Teresa appeared to have high regard for etiquette and was proud of her social standing as the unofficial First Lady of Florence. She also liked to spend time in the country where the Medici's had a smaller mansion, taking all of the household staff with her.

In Series 2, Teresa and her husband arranged for her son, Lorenzo, to marry Angelica Visconti and threw a masked ball for carnival to announce the news. However, she was mortified when her son was kidnapped by Greco. She was relieved when he was returned to the Medici Palace by his friends, unaware that her husband had been responsible. In the build-up to the wedding, Teresa traveled with Lorenzo to a convent after hearing that the rich princess of the of Naples wanted to marry Lorenzo. She was fooled by the charade performed by the gang, and agreed the wedding. However, Teresa and her husband were left humiliated at the wedding when they received word that the princess had cancelled on them. (Hitched)

Personality[]

Teresa dotes on her son Lorenzo to the extent that he finds it embarrassing. She is quite stuck up and looked down on Angelica Visconti. She was unaware of her husband's treacherous schemes and merely enjoyed the lavish benefits of being a woman of her wealth and position.
